The Alphabet Sisters
by Monica McInerney

Date Completed: June 13th, 2005

This is one of the random books that I have picked up off the shelves at Barnes & Noble. I need to stop walking into that store - I always leave with a handful of books (when I already have plenty on my shelves to keep me busy for a while). This story is focused around three sisters who were close growing up but had a huge fight several years ago and have not spoken since. Their grandmother attempts to get them to reconcile by having a huge party for her 80th birthday. I thought that the book was pretty good, but then it took a turn for the worse. I'll just state for the record that I have no problems with happy, or even predictable, endings. This is not to say that I *need* all my books to be happy or predictable. It's just that this one was going along so well and then it got really sad. For this reason, I can't say that I truly recommend this one.
