I've been on 3 trips to California (not including some stops in airports):
Family Trip to Hawaii/San Francisco in 1988
My family took a trip to Hawaii in 1988 and made a stop in San Francisco for a few days on the way back. We saw some of the main sights during our short stay.
Bridge Tournament in San Diego in 1994
My family took a trip to San Diego in 1994 which coincided with the Summer Nationals once again. My sister and I were happy to meet up with our old friends that we had met through the years as caddies for past NABCs. As a teenager, this was a perfect family vacation. We did some sightseeing with the family, but also had time to goof off with other teenagers (and get paid to do a little work caddying!).
JavaOne in 2001
I took my first business trip in 2001 to San Francisco for the JavaOne conference. I extended my stay for a few days before and after the conference (which lasted 5 days). We stayed at the Pan Pacific Hotel, which was a pretty nice place. When we weren't at the conference, we toured around the city. One of my coworkers had a friend who lived in San Francisco who showed us around the city. We did some sightseeing to Lombard Street, Alcatrez, China Beach, the Exploratorium hands-on museum, Muir Woods, Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown, and more. We ate at some great restaurants and experienced some of the San Francisco bar scene.
