I've been on two major trips to Hawaii:
Family Vacation to Hawaii in 1988
My family took a wonderful vacation to the islands of Hawaii in 1988. We visited Maui, Hawaii, Oahu, Lanai, and Kauai. Kauai was our family's favorite island with its beautiful Na'Pali coastline and Waimea Canyon. We stayed several days on each island except for Lanai (which at the time was being developed). We took a day trip to Lanai. We visited major sites on each island such as Diamond Head, Pearl Harbor, the Kilauea volcano, and Waikiki beach, . We swam and bodysurfed in the ocean and learned how to hula at luaus. We tasted and hated poi (and took back a jar that stayed in our fridge for YEARS). We went snorkeling multiple times and went on a Zodiak tour of the NaPali coastline and sea caves.
Kauai in 2002
Scott and I chose to go to Kauai and had a wonderful time staying at the Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa. We liked that Kauai was less populated and touristy than some of the other islands. We snorkeled, took a bike tour to Waimea Canyon, went on a sunset cruise, took surfing lessons, went on a helicopter of the island (which included spectacular views of the NaPali coastline), saw many waterfalls, drove to the north to the Princeville area, swam in the pools and lazy rivers around our hotel, went to a luau, had spa treatments, relaxed in hot tubs, hung out with our parrot friends, and ate fancy meals every night.
