Visiting Family in Atlanta photos
Purpose: To visit with family in Atlanta
I drove to Davidson on Friday night, and then Dad and I continued to Atlanta on Saturday morning. We spent time with family on this quick trip, and headed back to North Carolina on Sunday afternoon.
I left after dinner with Greg at Southpoint mall (Firebirds - yum!), and arrived in Davidson not too late. My parents showed me all of their various projects as they have both been taking lessons in pottery, drawing, woodturning, watercolor, and more in the past two years. I was even able to take some of my favorite pieces back with me to Raleigh! Mom and I played some Weboggle for a little bit on Friday night before heading to bed.
Saturday, we all woke up bright and early so that we could get to Atlanta early in the afternoon. The trip takes about 4 hours or so from Davidson. We arrived at Grandma and Grandpa's house (Dad's parents), and spent some time looking at photos before The Bursons arrived. I brought some scrapbooks for them to see.
The Bursons arrived later in the afternoon, and we all had a nice meal with pork loin and many sides, including some fresh bread that The Bursons brought over for us. I always enjoy Grandma's meals!
My cousin, Joseph, is really into Star Wars now (last time it was Spiderman which resulted in a broken arm when he was climbing the doorframes). He showed up dressed as Darth Vader, complete with a set of light sabers. He wanted me to duel with him a bit before dinner. He's quite knowledgable about the Star Wars characters and movies.
After dinner, we had some dessert (chocolate pudding with surprise bits of peanut butter! YUM!). John Thomas played his trumpet for a little bit, and then I played a game with The Bursons. I taught Frances, Bill, John Thomas and Joseph how to play Carcassonne: Hunters and Gatherers. I thought it might be a good one to play together, and even Joseph seemed to enjoy it (and stuck with the game for the entire time - it took about an hour!). Joseph was winning most of the time, but I had more animals in my meadows at the end and won by 2 points.
We took a few family photos together, and then The Bursons left to go back home. Grandpa and Dad watched some tv downstairs while Grandma showed me some old photos. Before we knew it, it was time for bed.
Dad and I went to visit my other Grandma (Mom's mom) on Sunday morning for the 11am brunch. We visited with her for a few hours, and then started the trek back home. A quick trip, but I think that everyone enjoyed seeing us (and we certainly enjoyed seeing them!). I already have my plane tickets for Christmas, so it won't be too long before we're back in Atlanta.
