Our New York City Escape

November 16-22, 2006

Although we were planning to be on a wonderful vacation when we tied the knot, we still wanted a separate "honeymoon" trip. For our "official" honeymoon, we decided to experience New York City!

We stumbled upon the Library Hotel in New York City a while back, and we thought it would make a perfect romantic escape. Kerry had been wanting to take Gabe to New York City since he has never been, and it is one of her favorite cities. Neither of us had ever stayed in such a fancy hotel! The hotel was perfect for booklovers such as ourselves. The floors and rooms are organized similar to the Dewey Decimal System. Each floor represents a different category, and every room on that floor is themed within that category. Naturally we chose The Love Room on the 11th floor (Philosophy). The Love Room is one of their Junior Suites with a King bed, and it is the only room in the entire hotel with a private terrace. We loved our terrace! Each of the 60 rooms in the small hotel contains books appropriate to their particular theme.

While researching, we also found Photo Trek Tours. Kerry was especially excited about this type of tour -- what could be better than a tour that gives us an overview of significant and photogenic sites in New York City while being followed around by our own professional photographer? We thought that our honeymoon would be just the type of special occasion to splurge on this tour. Plus, it sounded much easier than bugging other tourists around the city to take photographs of us together! He took over 200 photos of us around town, and we got some good ones of us together.

More information about the honeymoon is in the photo and trip report sections of the website.
